As July turned into August, an emergency with the grandkids caused us to make an unplanned trip to Rochester, NY.  Our daughter has had a few emergencies since we’ve been on the road and this was the first time we could easily respond in person as we knew the RV would be safe and sound in Becky’s yard.  Both grandkids had a bout of RSV, the older being hospitalized as a result.  We got tons of quality time with 7 month old Willa as both parents stayed with Leo.  This quality time included contracting the RSV virus and putting us both under the weather.  It was a small price to pay help our daughter through a rough time.

Surprise Visits

A tradition exists in our extended family of surprising each other with unexpected visits. It started (we think) with our niece, Rachael, surprising our daughter, Kristina, at her first vocal recital in college. Kristina repaid the shock when she unexpectedly showed up in Boston for Rachael’s bachelorette getaway weekend. Since then we’ve had multiple surprises with the biggest (before this past week) being the weekend after we retired when our oldest (Katie) managed to get both of her siblings to show up at our celebration dinner. For the week of the 4th here in Maine, we were surprised not once, but twice.

Mooch Docking in Maine

After over 2 months in the Rochester, NY area spending time with our new grandson, we are back on the road once again. Before heading south and west, we wanted to take a quick trip to Maine to visit family and enjoy our original home state. This post covers our first week and a half spent mooch docking (camping for free in a relative’s driveway) at Dan’s sister’s and his cousin’s houses.
