After leaving our friends in Lubbock, TX, we headed south to visit Big Bend National Park. This would be our first visit to Big Bend and we were looking forward to doing some hiking and seeing the sights. We did not get a campsite within the park, so we stayed at a small, but well reviewed, RV park in Terlingua, just outside the northwest border of the park.

Everglades National Park
Over a year ago, before the pandemic hit, we scheduled an 8-night stay in Everglades National Park. So, we left our friends in Chiefland, FL and made the long 9 hour drive to the park on January 25th to return on the 2nd of February. We made the most of our time riding bikes, kayaking and taking lots of pictures. We even took a day trip to Key West. Here are some of the highlights of our week.

After leaving our friends, we spent another week in North Carolina to spend some time in the Smokey Mountain National Park. We decided to reconnect with them and others a few weeks later. That reunion was on the gulf coast in the panhandle of Florida. This decision dictated our stays during the end of October and early November. Making last minute decisions like this is the benefit of not booking too much too early.

A common question or concern for people contemplating the full-time RV lifestyle is one of loneliness. After a long career working with people everyday, what would it be like to leave everyone and hit the road full-time. For us, we had the rare opportunity to work with the same group of people for many years, some for over 20 years. They were, and still are, family. Yes, for those that don’t know, we worked together for the last 20 years or so of our careers at Kodak / Kodak Alaris.
